Alegría is a traditional healthy snack that has been enjoyed by young and old for centuries accros Mexico. It resembles a brittle, but due to its low sugar content and texture it cannot be considered brittle.The main ingredient is Amaranth, a powerful seed with beneficial properties. Try it!
Ingredients:
– 1/4 cup of pumpkin seeds
– 1/4 cup peanuts
– 1/4 cup raisins
– 1/4 cup walnuts
– 1/8 cup water
– 14 oz (25 g) molasses
– 1/4 cup of Ceimayá Mayan Honey: Tsitsilché Blossom
– 3 drops of lemon juice
– 1 cup (250 g) of amaranth
Preparation:
Mix nut and dried fruit (raisins, walnuts, pumpkin seeds and peanuts). Add to a skillet and toast over low heat for 3 minutes, moving the ingredients with a spatula. In a saucepan, add water, molasses. Mix well, then add Ceimayá Mayan Honey: Tsitsilché Blossom and lemon juice. Heat this mixture for 15 minutes until boiling. Remove from heat and immediately add the nut-dried fruit mix and amaranth. Poor in molds or on a cookie sheet previously covered with parchment paper and let cool. Enjoy!
